Orchid bark is essentially pine bark that has undergone multiple screenings to eliminate most of the wood and cambium. Cambium is responsible for attaching the bark to the wood. The reason for removing the wood and cambium is that they decay faster than the bark, leading to faster degradation of the bark. It is preferable for the orchid bark to remain open and not degrade for as long as possible. Orchid bark is ideal for orchids that prefer a well-drained, open mixture.
We have the bark available in three grades, #2 (approx. 3-8mm), #3 (approx. 8-20mm) and #4 (approx. 20-25mm). All three grades are available in a 50-litre bag and also a repackaged smaller 5-litre bag. The 5-litre bag is suitable for those people with only a small collection of plants whereas the 50-litre bag suits those with larger collections.
SHIPPING COSTS ARE CALCULATED ON 15KG PER 50 LITRE BAG, PURCHASE OF 2 OR MORE 50L BAGS WILL REQUIRE SEPARATE ORDERS TO BE PLACED FOR EACH BAG.
