Dendrobium kingianum, commonly known as the rock orchid, is a flowering plant that is endemic to eastern Australia. It usually grows on rocks, occasionally as an epiphyte, and has thin, spreading leaves and spikes of up to fifteen 2-3cm fragrant flowers ocurring in late winter to spring. Kingianum dendrobiums require conditions similar to Cymbidiums - dappled to bright indirect light and cool to warm temperatures. The pink/mauve form of this plant can be commonly seen in gardens throughout NZ.
